“‘Another’ is the first track on Greylag’s tremendously appealing self-titled debut (due out October 14), and it sets the tone for the record’s catchy and briskly strummed mini epics… the widescreen majesty of this music is decidedly rock.”
A little less than a month after announcing their eponymous debut album, Portland-based Greylag share the new video for lead single “Another.” Premiering via PASTE this morning, the video captures the trio’s live performance from a recent stop in their hometown, and for those of you have yet to get a taste of their live sound, watch the video above or on Youtube. Like what you see? The band has got a string of shows supporting The Whigs coming up in October. Full list of dates below.
“Greylag have that special something. The Portland trio plays a virtuosic Led Zeppelin III strain of folk-rock that could easily… win them fans across many musical subcultures.”
Today we are extremely proud to announce Portland-based trio Greylag has joined the Dead Oceans family. We first got a glimpse of the band at this year’s SXSW and have been jamming to their tunes on full blast here at Dead Oceans HQ ever since. Today, we we are excited to announce Greylag‘s self-titled debut full-length LP, Greylag, out October 14th, 2014 on Dead Oceans. Recorded with Phil Ek (Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Modest Mouse, The Shins) at Seattle’s Avast Studio, Greylag is a followup to the band’s 2012 seven-track EP The Only Way To Kill (Ninth Street Opus).
Greylag is composed of Andrew Stonestreet, Daniel Dixon, and Brady Swan, three vastly talented musicians with incredibly different yet cohesive musical backgrounds. As for their name, the band explains “It’s a wild goose, from which all domestic geese originate, so it’s the first survivor, and it’s still wild, and doing things its own way – the ‘lag’ part refers to it being the last bird to migrate. It sits back and watches. We love the connotation.”
