Watch: Bowerbirds Video for “Tuck the Darkness In,” New Album Out TODAY

“Tuck the Darkness In” by Bowerbirds from Secretly Jag on Vimeo.

Today’s the day. Bowerbirds release their third and already critically acclaimed album, The Clearing. In addition to the new release, Beth and Phil bring us a gem of a video for “Tuck the Darkness In,” directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada. Premiering this morning on Pitchfork, the video tells the story of a young boy with a particular affinity toward fish. However, just like every Bowerbirds lyric is suffuse with metaphor and deeper meaning, so is this short film. An overwhelming sense of freedom and triumph over society’s unreasonable conventions permeate the end of the video. Watch above!

You can purchase The Clearing HERE, from your local record store or at any of the upcoming shows. Tour kicks off in two weeks-see the full schedule HERE.

Want to learn more about the album’s backstory? Read The Quietus’ interview with Phil to learn how the new album pulled the duo away from near extinction- “Home Is Where The Heart Is“!

Love for The Clearing

“The Clearing effortlessly walks secret mountain paths that others would be flattered to follow”MOJO

“The striking thing this time out is how Bowerbirds maintain their fragile intimacy among all these shimmering layers. It’s not that The Clearing gets louder, it just gets bigger, spreading out in some pretty fascinating ways.”PopMatters

“Music that’s hauntingly self-revealing”FILTER Magazine

“reliably gorgeous”Stereogum
