ALBUM RELEASE // Julianna Barwick “Nepenthe” Out Today

Beyond proud to release Julianna Barwick‘s new album, Nepenthe, today in stores and online! Produced by Sigor Ros‘s Alex Somers in Iceland, Julianna’s layered angelic vocals loop in and out of expansive compositions meant to represent the sorrow and sadness she faced before and during the album’s recording, but also reflect the stark beauty and loneliness of Iceland in what Nathan Shaffer of Tiny Mix Tapes calls “profound and giving music.”

All this week you can stream Julianna’s third full-length album, Nepenthe, via Gorilla Vs Bear. Order the new album at SCD, iTunes, Amazon, and your local record store.

Read more below for early reviews, her in-studio performance of “Forever” live on WNYC’s Soundcheck, and info on her album release show tonight plus tour dates through late Fall.

WATCH // Night Beds Premiere Video for “Ramona”, Tour Europe & Festivals Through December

Night Beds have premiered the new video for their single off Country Sleep, “Ramona.” The video is directed by Abraham Vilchez-Moran, and tells the story of an emotional confrontation between a transgendered teenager and his drunk father.

Vilchez-Moran explains:

“The concept for ‘Ramona’ was birthed out of my aspiration to do something that would speak not only to the heart of the song’s lyrics but also to the feeling that it embodied…I was inspired to capture that raw energy in a story that would reflect what it means to be ‘Ramona’ and what it means to be ostracized for who you are.”

Watch the video ABOVE or on Vevo HERE. Read more for upcoming tour dates.

NEWS // Gauntlet Hair Ends

We are sad to say that Gauntlet Hair has officially come to an end. Andy and Craig are two powerhouse musicians that we were more than lucky to have and very honored to be a part of our roster. As a band, they created some amazing music and put on some fantastic live performances that will be talked about for years. We are touched, but not surprised, by the fans’ emphatic responses on Facebook and Twitter and would like to echo their thoughts. Although we are sad to see them go, we know they will continue to innovate by creating music that will keep people talking and connect to new fans just like their first two albums with Dead Oceans.

So long and all the best of luck in your future, Craig and Andy, we’re excited to hear what’s next.
