ALBUM RELEASE // Califone’s ‘Stitches’ Out Today, Touring Through October

After playing a fantastic Labor Day in-store at Nashville‘s iconic record store Grimey’s yesterday, Califone‘s new album, Stitches, is finally out today in stores and online!

Stitches is the band’s 7th album, a followup to 2009′s All My Friends Are Funeral Singers, and the band’s first completely made outside Chicago. Califone’s Tim Rutili explains that the writing and recording began in Southern California and then finished the album in Arizona and Texas saying “those dry landscapes and beaches and hills and shopping malls all made it into the music”. Enchanting, complex, and emotionally driven songs will satisfy diehard fans while bringing new fans to Califone’s established sound and storied history.

You can get Stitches on iTunes, Amazon, your local record store, and from SC Distribution.

The first critics have weighed in on Stitches:

When Califone’s trademark electronic glitches, blips and fizzles enter and mirror Rutili’s intention to “cut the connection, just to stitch it together again, again, again,” music and lyrics achieve ideal symmetry; the music heals wounds to make scars

- JOHN SCHACHT for BLURT

The album glows with the city’s [Chicago's] biting winds, warm metro lamps, and edgy structures

- NINA CORCORAN for dig Boston

Often near-skeletal in their sparseness yet still richly orchestrated, these tracks retain Califone’s compelling air of mystery

- JANNE OINONEN for THE LINE OF BEST FIT
