TOUR ANNOUNCE // Destroyer Premieres New Track “El Rito”, Announces US Tour Dates

Destroyer fans! Take a listen to a new track off Dan Bejar’s new EP, Five Spanish Songs, called “El Rito”. The new EP, a followup to 2011′s Kaputt, comes out December 2nd through Dead Oceans in the UK and Europe and consists of songs written by Spanish musician Antonio Luque of the band Sr. Chinarro.

Listen to El Rito above or on our Soundcloud here.

Read more for info on the album including Bejar’s thoughts, info about US solo tour dates with Pink Mountaintops, and a UK/EU solo acoustic tour by Bejar in December after the album release.

Produced by JC/DC and recorded at their studio in Vancouver earlier this summer, ‘Five Spanish Songs’ features Nicolas Bragg, David Carswell, John Collins (also of The New Pornographers), Stephen Hamm, and Josh Wells (also of Black Mountain, Lightning Dust).

On the album, Bejar writes, “It was 2013. The English language seemed spent, despicable, not easily singable. It felt over for English; good for business transactions, but that’s about it. The only other language I know is Spanish, and the only Spanish songs I really know are those of Sr. Chinarro, led by Antonio Luque. I’ve been a decades-long fan of how he conducted his affairs, his strange words, his melodies that have always felt so natural (this is important), his bitter songs about painting the light. Something about them, I knew I could do it…”

Hear the new songs and more as Destroyer’s Dan Bejar goes on tour in the US with Pink Mountaintops starting in November and then a solo acoustic tour in Europe in December. A full list of dates are below, including a London show at Bush Hall on the 2nd December.
