ALBUM STREAM // Watch + Listen To Bishop Allen’s Full ‘Lights Out’ Album In Video Series, Tour Starts Tonight In Boston

Bishop Allen’s new record Lights Out is now out worldwide on Dead Oceans as of yesterday. To celebrate their tour starting tonight in Boston, the band is sharing a unique and mesmerizing long form version of the “Why I Had To Go” video to accompany a stream of each album track. You can watch the full series of 12 videos in the above playlist (or here on YouTube) and see the band’s upcoming North American tour dates below.

Premiering via Dangerous Minds this morning, the video series was co-directed by Chad Smith (of Tempo Pictures) and Bishop Allen‘s Justin Rice. They invited their friends and neighbors in Kingston, NY to a theater that is currently being restored uptown and asked them to hula-hoop. They chose hula-hooping because it gave people something mesmerizing and all-consuming to focus on, which meant they weren’t self-conscious in front of the camera.  The goal was to capture natural expressions of innate personality, and to do it in slow motion.

Purchase new album Lights Out via SC Distribution, iTunes, Amazon, or your local record store.
