It’s been a wee bit since we’ve heard from The Tallest Man on Earth, but we’ve got real treat to share with you today! Kristian recently performed on the popular Swedish game show, På Spåret. Accompanied by a full band, he performs a traditional Swedish folk song with an assertive gusto and then surprises us with a rockin’ cover of Thin Lizzy’s “Dancing in the Moonlight.” The normally guitar clad Kristian leaves the band to play, while he handles the mike and dancing as though it’s something he gives to us every night. We certainly aren’t mad about it! Check it out for yourself above!

Now, we over here at Dead Oceans get to sing their praises as well. Watch this lovely video that Califone recorded with the Pumphouse crew in a small shack situated deep in the woods at Pickathon 2011. The sessions were recorded by the very talented folks over at Live and Breathing, who would be worth your time to check out. Hopefully they’ll be back in action at Pickathon next summer.

A Place To Bury Strangers stunning new EP, Onwards To The Wall, is out today folks and it’s been going like hotcakes already! Wait, what does that saying even mean anyway? Are hotcakes really in that much demand? Much like hotcakes though, this EP is dense and satisfying, and many folks seem to agree with us. Check out these nice words from a few critics already:

“APTBS re-arrange the basic elements of Noise-Pop by destroying whatever preconceived notion you had towards the genre. Instruments are merely tools used to test the limits and knowledge of what sonic exploration really means, and Onwards to the Wall resembles the Home Depot at times.” -Aquarium Drunkard

“With moments of breathing room and stripped melodies, APTBS continue subtle explorations of their strengths and the conflict between cacophony and harmony.” -Consequence of Sound

“Onwards to the Wall opens with “I Lost You”…a pummeling onslaught of banshee-wail guitar stacked on top of a chugging motorik bass riff, plus some gnarly, rancid feedback.” -Pitchfork

Order the Onwards To The Wall HERE and check out their recent interview with NYLON guys, where you can stream the full EP for free.
