ALBUM RELEASE // Night Beds “Ivywild” Available Worldwide

“In an age where white male singer/songwriter types are five to a dime, Yellen is a true rarity: a singer with both an astounding voice and a unique style… This album takes on the more fleshed out arrangements of its predecessor and blows them up to proportions no one could have seen coming.”
PopMatters

“the perfect, airy mixture of Fleet Foxes and Beach House… Yellen’s transition toward the electronic side of things will yield the same gorgeous results as his Americana past.”
Stereogum

After streaming in full over the past week via NPR Music First Listen, Night Beds’ triumphant new album, Ivywild, is finally out today on Dead Oceans. Drawing on Winston Yellen’s original love of Bill Evans through to J Dilla, Ivywild is a truly collaborative effort with a makeshift team of 25 musicians, notably Abe Yellen, Winston’s younger brother and closest friend.

To celebrate the release of Ivywild, the brothers Yellen are sharing the Strangers In Paradise Mixtape, a collection of Abe’s beats, a few Ivywild b-sides and an assortment of tracks that were in heavy rotation in the studio during the making of the album.

Stream the Strangers In Paradise Mixtape above and catch Night Beds performing songs from Ivywild at the Bardot in Los Angeles next Monday, August 10th for School Night!.

“all cascading harmonies and sparkling sonics.”

“head-turning R&B…complete with deep bass beats and auto-tuned vocals.”
NPR Music

“This isn’t Yellen’s first time going electro…but it’s the first time he’s done it alone, and it’s surprising how effective this approach is for him.”

‘Tide Teeth’ has a real Drake, Weeknd vibe…It feels like warm bed on a snowy evening.”
Vulture (“10 Best New Songs of the Week”)

With less than a month away from the release of Ivywild, Night Beds is sharing a lovely new single called “Corner” via Noisey. It follows banger “Me Liquor & God” and melancholic beauty “Tide Teeth,” both of which established Night Beds’ adventurous and stunning new sound. All three singles are available now if you preorder through iTunes here.

Night Beds’ Winston Yellen recalls the spine of the song coming together rather quickly at Nashville’s Club Roar Studios in May 2012.

“I was thinking about Victoria Legrand/Stevie Knicks whilst singing. Their delivery is so legend. I absolutely adore Ben Kaufman’s Les Paul/Mary Ford guitar triplets along with Caleb Hickman’s sultry sax and Steven Holmes baritone electric guitar in unison.”

Ivywild is a truly collaborative effort with a makeshift team of 25 musicians, notably Abe Yellen, younger brother and closest friend. The thread that weaves through all of Yellen’s music and holds it together is his unmistakable voice – plaintive, yearning, soulful, heartbreaking. Yellen’s voice has a unique beauty matched by few of his contemporaries. It is a voice that reveals the qualities of a life spent listening to the greats of jazz and soul and yet sounds so utterly of this moment.

Night Beds will play live in support of Ivywild for the first time on July 31st at a special event in Portland, OR. Tickets and info can be found here. Stay tuned for more live performances to be announced soon. NPR is also sharing “Finished” on their podcast today. Check that out here.
