Gauntlet Hair Announce North American Tour! Watch New Video from Into The Woods.tv

Gauntlet Hair are set to tour North America starting April 22nd in New York and eventually ending in San Diego. A rotating cast of Pictureplane, IG88 and Dana Buoy – the new solo project of Akron/Family’s Dana Janssen, will join GH in their shows. Check out the full list of dates below!

Portland’s Into the Woods.tv caught up with Gauntlet Hair for their “Far From Home” series. After a good ole run-in with the police, the band and crew are forced to cut their work a bit short, but as always, the end product is stellar (and it all happened under a bridge). Watch GH perform “Lights Out” live above.

Akron/Family Films Session for American Songwriter

American Songwriter shares a new Akron/Family session with us today! While on tour in January, A/F stopped by AS offices in Nashville to perform stripped down versions of “River,” “Love and Space,” “Gravelly Mountains of the Moon,” and “Canopy.” As always, the boys deliver. Watch all four videos HERE.

Musoscribe talked with bassist Miles Seaton during their tour too. Bill Kopp gets the lowdown from Seaton on tour, musical influences and recording. “You do create a relationship with people through your songs; its almost an act of generosity,” comments Seaton. Read the full interview.

Watch: Akron/Family Live with Sun Ra Arkestra

Dirty Impound brings us a glorious video of Akron/Family performing “Everyone is Guilty” live at Philadelphia music venue, The Blockley. “Don’t stand off in your own little world. Be here in the now. Join us in our run through the wilds of the human condition. This is what Akron/Family cries in ways literal and figurative each time they gather in a music hall.”

If at all possible, the video captures the essence of the unique experience that is an Akron/Family show. Perhaps you have to really be there to fully understand, but nonetheless, it’s easy to see the connection between concertgoers and musicians. Where other bands simply perform-eliciting some type of barrier between themselves and their fans, Akron/Family dares the audience to include themselves into the show. It’s interaction at its finest.

As if seeing Akron/Family by themselves isn’t enough, Sun Ra Arkestra joins them in the performance. Take a break and watch this video; you’ll be happy you did.

New Akron/Family Video. See Them On Tour in January

Check out the new video for “Cast A Net” from Akron/Family’s S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT. The video follows a young protagonist as she journeys through a maritime wonderland. Directed by Percept Visual’s Brian Ziffer this video perfectly captures the soothing qualities of “Cast A Net” which plays like the perfect bedtime fairy tale.

In other news, Akron/Family will be touring North America and launching a new record label, Family Tree Records. Supporting AK on the US tour dates will be Denver’s Bad Weather California who are also the first signees to Family Tree Records. For more info on this new project check out the Family Tree Records website. Akron/Family Tour Japan

In July, Akron/Family will return to Japan where the creative genesis for their latest album S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT took place. It is uncertain whether they’ll be able to return to the cabin in the volcanic hillside of Mount Meekan where the album first took shape, but we’re sure AK will be trolling the street vendors for the very best and strangest in Japanese underground music. Either way this signals a nice completion of a creative cycle that birthed an album that still runs circles around our brains. Check out the full tour dates below:
