LSTN: A Place To Bury Strangers’ New Album Available for Streaming on The Quietus

A Place To Bury Strangers new album, Worship, is out now in the UK and on June 26 everywhere else, but you can listen to it now in full at The Quietus. “‘This album was written, recorded, mixed and mastered by A Place To Bury Strangers. It is our vision of what our music should sound like in 2012, not someone else’s interpretation,’ says the band’s Dion Lunadon. ‘Every sound on the album is made by us and our tools; tools created by us, used on no other recordings, and purposefully built for this project. This is real.’” Stream the record and read the rest of The Quietus article HERE.

Like what you hear? Pre-order Worship. Only a couple of weeks left to win that sweet effects pedal handmade by Oliver Ackermann himself! See APTBS live in concert this summer. Dates HERE.

Out Today: A Place To Bury Stranger’s Onwards To The Wall

A Place To Bury Strangers stunning new EP, Onwards To The Wall, is out today folks and it’s been going like hotcakes already! Wait, what does that saying even mean anyway? Are hotcakes really in that much demand? Much like hotcakes though, this EP is dense and satisfying, and many folks seem to agree with us. Check out these nice words from a few critics already:

“APTBS re-arrange the basic elements of Noise-Pop by destroying whatever preconceived notion you had towards the genre. Instruments are merely tools used to test the limits and knowledge of what sonic exploration really means, and Onwards to the Wall resembles the Home Depot at times.” -Aquarium Drunkard

“With moments of breathing room and stripped melodies, APTBS continue subtle explorations of their strengths and the conflict between cacophony and harmony.” -Consequence of Sound

Onwards to the Wall opens with “I Lost You”…a pummeling onslaught of banshee-wail guitar stacked on top of a chugging motorik bass riff, plus some gnarly, rancid feedback.” -Pitchfork

Blackout Beach’s “Fuck Death” Out Now!

Yesterday was Fuck Death Day, but we wanted to properly celebrate on the blog once the stream over at SPIN.com was up. You can head over there right now and listen to the new album in its entirety.

The critics love Fuck Death, and you can read more about the record at the following places:

Fuck Death is the first record of his that feels like a genuine meditation on the themes it explores. Instead of pummeling, it actually awards the listener with moments of pause, making its atmosphere that much more immersive.

When are we going to realize that in Carey Mercer, North America has her sole living and deeply gasping genius?
Monday Magazine

Inspired by the equally provocative American contemporary painter Leon Golub’s painting of the same name and by his fascination with stories of war, Fuck Death, appropriately reflects both the sonic and thematic substance embedded within the album’s nine tracks.

Nurses Premiere “Fever Dreams” Video, Album Stream for Dracula

Nurses have debuted the video for “Fever Dreams” on Pitchfork TV. The band followed a natural progression in making the video saying, “The song seemed to have a definite Face to it, and these images — of a face progressively growing in detail, floating, flashing, dancing, not being anywhere/being everywhere — they stuck with us for a while and it became clear that was the universe where the song existed, and that’s the character who sings it.” The dark dreamy visuals both mimic and enhance the song’s woozy appeal.

Dracula is also streaming right now in its entirety at Yours Tru.ly with a unique piece of art from band member James Mitchell. The band has also put together a curated “Live Music Show” for the site Network Awesome full of groovy live performances. Dracula will be released September 20 on Dead Oceans and is available now for pre-order with an instant download of the full album.
