Bowerbirds Sell Out Bowery Ballroom, Hear Live Recording Now!

Playing to a sold-out crowd, the Bowerbirds took over the Bowery Ballroom last Friday. Luckily for all of us, NYC Taper was there to catch it all!

“…a set that was full of elegance and poise, as the band worked through a solid portion of The Clearing material, as well as several songs from 2009′s Upper Air.  The live performances of these songs added additional depth not found on those records, as well as as surprising amount of energy.  Several songs boasted reworked arrangements, guitar solos, and best of all, a few crowd sing-alongs.  Moore thanked that crowd repeatedly throughout the night, and by set’s end, there was nobody left to win over.  The show had been a success from start to finish.”

You can stream AND download recordings from the show via NYCTaper

Catch the Bowerbirds live in concert now throughout the summer! They’re playing Pickathon Festival too! See full list of tour dates HERE!

Citay Perform At “Our Band Could Be Your Life” 10 Year Anniversary Show, Tour With the Donkeys

Ten years ago, Michael Azerrad published the seminal book Our Band Could Be Your Life, chronicling the stories of artists such as Black Flag, the Minutemen, Sonic Youth, Mission of Burma, Mudhoney and more. To celebrate the ten year anniversary of the book, Azerrad has curated a show at Bowery Ballroom, aptly called Our Concert Could Be Your Life, which features contemporary bands covering the classics that he wrote about in the book. Citay will be digging into the Mission of Burma catalog, while Dirty Projectors revisit Black Flag, St. Vincent pays tribute to Big Black and Wye Oak performs the music of Dinosaur Jr. The Village Voice recently covered the event, and you can see the full line-up for this sold out show at the Bowery Ballroom website.

This show is Citay’s first in their new hometown of New York City. Guitarist/songwriter Ezra Feinberg relocated to New York City in late 2010, and has assembled a new Citay line-up in his new home, featuring Max McDonald, Evan Patrick O’Reilly, Noah Plotkin, Colby Cecca and Grant Schulte. Following Citay’s appearance at Bowery Ballroom, the band joins the Donkeys on select shows in the northeast.

Phosphorescent on David Letterman this Thursday!

We are proud to announce Phosphorescent’s late night television debut! December 9 Phosphorescent will be the musical guest on The Late Show with David Letterman!
This is the perfect end to an amazing year for Phosphorescent. The year began with a personal invite from David Gray to join him on tour in both Europe and the U.S. In May, Here’s To Taking It Easy was released to huge acclaim from NPR’s World Cafe, Mojo, Paste, Filter, American Songwriter, Rolling Stone, Spin, Pitchfork, and many more. The rest of the year has been filled with non-stop worldwide touring, including the band’s current dates opening for The National in Europe.
Just this week both Mojo and Paste Magazine have named Here’s To Taking It Easy, their #8 album of 2010, and now on the eve of Phosphorescent’s final show of the year, December 10 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, we’re able to announce that Phosphorescent’s return to New York will be even more triumphant with the news that they will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman on December 9. Normally, adding another show this late in a year that has seen Phosphorescent spend months on the road would be an impossibility, but I think we’ll make an exception in the case of Mr. Letterman!
