Citay Tour with Vetiver and Fruit Bats

In September, Citay will hit the road with friends Vetiver and the Fruit Bats. Citay and Vetiver are old buddies from San Francisco and this tour marks a reunion with the Fruit Bats too who are also past tour mates with Citay. With this three deep bill of exceptional, veteran rockers this tour is not to be missed. Citay’s front man Ezra Feinberg moved from San Francisco to New York last fall and has reformed Citay with a brand new lineup that features Max McDonald, Evan Patrick O’Reilly, Noah Plotkin, Colby Cecca and Grant Schulte. In other Citay news the band is recording this summer with long-time collaborator Tim Green (The Fucking Champs, Nation of Ulysses) who has contributed to, and served as producer on Citay’s previous albums.

Citay Performs as Mission of Burma in Tribute to ’80s Underground

Be sure to stop by the NPR site this week to hear Citay perform as Mission of Burma in a concert celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Michael Azerrad’s book Our Band Could Be Your Life. The book chronicles the careers of 13 underground rock bands who changed the music landscape between 1981 and 1991, and a recent concert in New York City paid homage to these artists with cover sets by 14 contemporary indie artists. In addition to Citay, the evening offered performances from St. Vincent, Ted Leo, tUnE-yArDs, Wye Oak and more. Stream the whole show and read more about it HERE.

Citay Perform At “Our Band Could Be Your Life” 10 Year Anniversary Show, Tour With the Donkeys

Ten years ago, Michael Azerrad published the seminal book Our Band Could Be Your Life, chronicling the stories of artists such as Black Flag, the Minutemen, Sonic Youth, Mission of Burma, Mudhoney and more. To celebrate the ten year anniversary of the book, Azerrad has curated a show at Bowery Ballroom, aptly called Our Concert Could Be Your Life, which features contemporary bands covering the classics that he wrote about in the book. Citay will be digging into the Mission of Burma catalog, while Dirty Projectors revisit Black Flag, St. Vincent pays tribute to Big Black and Wye Oak performs the music of Dinosaur Jr. The Village Voice recently covered the event, and you can see the full line-up for this sold out show at the Bowery Ballroom website.

This show is Citay’s first in their new hometown of New York City. Guitarist/songwriter Ezra Feinberg relocated to New York City in late 2010, and has assembled a new Citay line-up in his new home, featuring Max McDonald, Evan Patrick O’Reilly, Noah Plotkin, Colby Cecca and Grant Schulte. Following Citay’s appearance at Bowery Ballroom, the band joins the Donkeys on select shows in the northeast.

Epic Citay Performance on Rooftop at Incubate Festival

Citay performances are epic in a regular old rock club, so when the band hits the “stage” for a rooftop performance at the Incubate Festival in the Netherlands, something pretty special was sure to happen. The band nails live versions of “Fortunate Sun” and “Mirror Kisses” here for the always amazing 3VOOR12.

Phosphorescent, Citay and Nurses will be headed to the old world in September for extensive tours. For Nurses and Citay, this will be their first time touring in Europe, so please make them feel welcome. This tour marks Phosphorescent’s second visit since the release of their acclaimed album Here’s To Taking It Easy. All three bands will be visiting one of our favorite festivals, End of the Road. The backstage parties will be epic. A full list of tour dates for all three bands can be found here.
