Ten years ago, Michael Azerrad published the seminal book Our Band Could Be Your Life, chronicling the stories of artists such as Black Flag, the Minutemen, Sonic Youth, Mission of Burma, Mudhoney and more. To celebrate the ten year anniversary of the book, Azerrad has curated a show at Bowery Ballroom, aptly called Our Concert Could Be Your Life, which features contemporary bands covering the classics that he wrote about in the book. Citay will be digging into the Mission of Burma catalog, while Dirty Projectors revisit Black Flag, St. Vincent pays tribute to Big Black and Wye Oak performs the music of Dinosaur Jr. The Village Voice recently covered the event, and you can see the full line-up for this sold out show at the Bowery Ballroom website.
This show is Citay’s first in their new hometown of New York City. Guitarist/songwriter Ezra Feinberg relocated to New York City in late 2010, and has assembled a new Citay line-up in his new home, featuring Max McDonald, Evan Patrick O’Reilly, Noah Plotkin, Colby Cecca and Grant Schulte. Following Citay’s appearance at Bowery Ballroom, the band joins the Donkeys on select shows in the northeast.
