Citay Performs as Mission of Burma in Tribute to ’80s Underground

Be sure to stop by the NPR site this week to hear Citay perform as Mission of Burma in a concert celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Michael Azerrad’s book Our Band Could Be Your Life. The book chronicles the careers of 13 underground rock bands who changed the music landscape between 1981 and 1991, and a recent concert in New York City paid homage to these artists with cover sets by 14 contemporary indie artists. In addition to Citay, the evening offered performances from St. Vincent, Ted Leo, tUnE-yArDs, Wye Oak and more. Stream the whole show and read more about it HERE.

Two Covers From WHITE HINTERLAND

Straight off WHITE HINTERLAND’S tour-exclusive EP Fresh From the Garden, we bring you a couple of new covers. The first, a ethereal take on Justin Timberlake’s “My Love” is available HERE. For the second track Casey Dienel takes on Arthur Russell’s “Lucky Cloud.” Here’s what Trip Wire had to say about her version: “A lucid homage to a teacher who did more for Dienel than any professor, ‘Lucky Cloud’ is a rare example of a cover reaching the same heights as the original, to the point where it almost feels like Russell remixed the track himself.” Listen to “Lucky Cloud” HERE.

To purchase Fresh From the Garden in its entirety, catch up with White Hinterland on the road this month.
