LSTN // The Luyas – ‘Animator’ Streaming at WNYC

The Luyas’ sophomore album Animator isn’t out until next Tuesday, October 16, but you can listen to it in full below or at WNYC’s Soundcheck where it premiered this morning! Pre-order the album HERE!

“At the heart is singer Jessie Stein’s dreamy melodicism and introspective words written as if a means of glassy-eyed escape from pain. In “Face” Stein ponders faith, intimacy, identity, singing “I wonder how true to life that I should be / Looking for nothing until I can speak.” Still, the beauty of Stein’s seductive, childlike coo as it floats over the music is what ultimately allows Animator to feel cathartic and full of hope.” – WNYC

The Luyas head out on tour on November 1! See all their dates, including a few shows with Destroyer, HERE. End your Luyas fun by listening to Jessie’s new Spotify playlist, Sleepy With Me.

In the February 2012 issue of Mojo, Destroyer takes part in the remaking of New Order’s Power, Corruption, & Lies and the single “Blue Monday.” The covermount CD, included with purchase of the magazine, features 13 different artists doing some serious justice in the recreation of New Order’s second and possibly most revered album.

Destroyer covers “Leave Me Alone.” For a preview of the album, check out Mojo’s Tumblr and to listen to Destroyer’s track in it’s entirety, head over to The Quietus.

UK Press Loves Destroyer

The end of year love just keeps rolling in! Drowned in Sound, The Stool Pigeon, The Quietus, Uncut, The Guardian, MOJO and NME all named Destroyer’s Kaputt in their top 50 best albums of 2011 lists. Thanks guys. We’re totally blushing over here. Hugs all around. Here’s a list of where we ranked:

#20 Drowned in Sound
#22 The Stool Pigeon
#29 The Quietus
#31 Uncut
#33 The Guardian
#41 MOJO
#44 NME
Adding to the excitement, Pitchfork put Kaputt at #2 on their list. Wow. We’re kind of speechless. Thank you again. For reals.
