Gauntlet Hair Announce North American Tour! Watch New Video from Into The Woods.tv

Gauntlet Hair are set to tour North America starting April 22nd in New York and eventually ending in San Diego. A rotating cast of Pictureplane, IG88 and Dana Buoy – the new solo project of Akron/Family’s Dana Janssen, will join GH in their shows. Check out the full list of dates below!

Portland’s Into the Woods.tv caught up with Gauntlet Hair for their “Far From Home” series. After a good ole run-in with the police, the band and crew are forced to cut their work a bit short, but as always, the end product is stellar (and it all happened under a bridge). Watch GH perform “Lights Out” live above.

Gauntlet Hair Releases Video for “Top Bunk”

When we first met Gauntlet Hair and were getting to know their likes and interests, one was a little more unusual than the rest: they collect Arnold Schwarzenegger movies on VHS. No one knows what the world record number of copies of Commando is, but we would imagine for that they are in the running. Their fascination with the Austrian Oak and the unintentional hilarity level of most of his films were the inspiration behind the “Top Bunk” video.

Directed by William Doyle of Neighborhood Watch, “Top Bunk” features many of Schwarzenegger’s films with sub characters that are iconic to his fans and also includes footage from a very rarely-seen trailer of The Terminator.

Gauntlet Hair just kicked off their winter tour in Bloomington, IN last night and will bring their super energetic live show to the east coast in the next week. Dates are here!

When Gauntlet Hair was back in NYC in October, winning the CMJ Music Marathon, they stopped by a recording studio to participate in an event sponsored by Fred Perry. They played two songs – “Mop It Up” and “Shout In Tongues.” Remember that guy who became internet famous for doing outrageously-priced artisanal pencil sharpening? He’s a comedian named David Rees, and he interviewed the bands for funsies.

Gauntlet Hair’s session and interview (as well as many more bands who were there that day) are available via a free download over at Insound.

Watch Gauntlet Hair’s New Video for “Keep Time”

We have a brand new music video for Gauntlet Hair’s “Keep Time” that premiered today at SPIN.com. Directed and produced by Bernardo Pantoja and Skyler Stevenson for Wooden Lens, the video features mirror-eyed ghouls that come to live at night. The ghouls are hunted by another entity and prowl the streets (shot in SE industrial-sector Portland). The goal for Wooden Lens was to “echo the beautiful texture and disturbing tone” of the song, and color me disturbed – this video is so scary and cool!

Gauntlet Hair was a huge critical highlight of CMJ 2011, praised by PopMatters, Pretty Much Amazing, Brooklyn Vegan, and Stereogum. After the jump, watch two live videos of Gauntlet Hair performing at The Fader Fort.
