We Promise This Is The Last Ever Lost Post… Probably

About a month ago we let you in on the little secret about Geronimo Jackson. For those who have not been keeping score, it was revealed that Geronimo Jackson are actually the Donkeys. Geronimo Jackson were purported to be a ’70s psychedelic band that was often referenced on Lost. Well, it seems as though the creators of Lost thought that the gaming community needed a little dose of “Dharma Lady” and added it to Rock Band 2. That’s right, John Locke is playing a song penned by The Donkeys in Rock Band 2. Apparently Rock Band 2 rated the game as “supervision recommended.” I don’t get it either. Word on the street is that members of the Donkeys have had little success playing their own song on Rock Band 2, losing during the second guitar solo.

The Donkeys and “The End” of L O S T

There are a lot of hardcore LOST fans here at Dead Oceans, and we don’t really know what to make of the finale. We’re all still processing!  What I do know, though, is that there were a TON of commercials last night.  There were a few, though, that I wasn’t very bothered by because they featured the Geronimo Jackson song “Dharma Lady.”

On Friday a cool interview went up at the Paste website with Tim DeNardo from The Donkeys about becoming Geronimo Jackson and contributing a song for the show. Mystery = solved.

The Target commercials for LOST are pretty funny. It would have been funnier if they had been for polar bear traps, Jacob-killing daggers or giant ankhs or something, but I guess they have to move merchandise.  Each one ended with a little riff from “Dharma Lady.”  Coooooool!

If your interest in The Donkeys has been piqued, might I suggest purchasing their excellent album Living On the Other Side? It features the original version of “Dharma Lady” (“Excelsior Lady”).  They are also about to go on tour with WHY? on the west coast, so please check out their new tour dates.

I leave you with this hilarious fan video of Juliet and Sawyer’s beautiful relationship, set to the recording of “Dharma Lady.” Enjoy.

Look. Here’s the deal: I love LOST (See: my John Locke action figure, Series 1 box set of The Hatch, Dharma Initiative pint glasses) and I hate keeping secrets. It’s just my luck that I would be in on a secret about LOST. A blessing and a curse.

Welp, SPOILER ALERT: The Smoke Monster is actually Carey Mercer.

JK, guyz.

You all everybody’s favorite ’70s rock band from a magical island, Geronimo Jackson, is really Dead Oceans’ very own The Donkeys. The creators of LOST spill all the beans in the new issue of Wired which you can read here. Personally, I’m just glad I can talk about it now. The only thing harder than trying to figure out all the secrets of LOST is actually trying to keep one.
