Phosphorescent Plays Coachella, Stagecoach, Primavera Festivals on World Tour

3hhs_phosmatt2_4

After a wild 2010 that saw Phosphorescent release Here’s To Taking It Easy, tour the western world multiple times over, and perform on The Late Show with David Letterman, the band is deservedly taking a winter hibernation. This break ends in April as Phosphorescent heads back out on tour for another spin around the globe, headlining tours in both North America and Europe. Along the way Phosphorescent will perform at some of the biggest music festivals of the year, including indie rock epicenter Coachella and country music’s main dish the Stagecoach music festival, both in Indio, CA. In May the band will also perform at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, Spain, and expect more summer festival announcements coming soon. Phosphorescent’s epic, anthemic live performances are a must-see, with the band blowing the roof off of venues night after night.

Watch Phosphorescent On David Letterman

Last night, Phosphorescent made their network television debut on The Late Show With David Letterman, performing a fiery version of “It’s Hard to Be Humble (When You’re From Alabama),” the opening track from their 2010 album, Here’s To Taking It Easy. To raise the stakes even higher, Phosphorescent borrowed a helping hand from the horn section of Paul Shaffer’s CBS Orchestra. After hearing the performance David Letterman exclaimed “According to a recent poll 70% of Americans loved that!”

Phosphorescent on David Letterman this Thursday!

We are proud to announce Phosphorescent’s late night television debut! December 9 Phosphorescent will be the musical guest on The Late Show with David Letterman!
This is the perfect end to an amazing year for Phosphorescent. The year began with a personal invite from David Gray to join him on tour in both Europe and the U.S. In May, Here’s To Taking It Easy was released to huge acclaim from NPR’s World Cafe, Mojo, Paste, Filter, American Songwriter, Rolling Stone, Spin, Pitchfork, and many more. The rest of the year has been filled with non-stop worldwide touring, including the band’s current dates opening for The National in Europe.
Just this week both Mojo and Paste Magazine have named Here’s To Taking It Easy, their #8 album of 2010, and now on the eve of Phosphorescent’s final show of the year, December 10 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, we’re able to announce that Phosphorescent’s return to New York will be even more triumphant with the news that they will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman on December 9. Normally, adding another show this late in a year that has seen Phosphorescent spend months on the road would be an impossibility, but I think we’ll make an exception in the case of Mr. Letterman!

Phosphorescent to Tour with The National This Fall

In May, Phosphorescent performed next door to Other Music in Manhattan along with Sharon Van Etten and The Antlers as part of an improptu concert series currated by The National that led up to the release of their new album High Violet. In an empty retail space that formerly housed Tower Records, Phosphorescent played a half hour set consisting of a sprawling, improvisational re-envisioning of “Los Angeles” off of their new album Here’s To Taking It Easy. Unfortunately after the set in classic New York City fashion, both Matthew’s motorcycle and the band’s van were slapped with parking tickets, a bummer of an end to an otherwise fun event. Well, karma has a way of rewarding those who wait, as The National have now invited Phosphorescent to join them on their European tour this fall. Phosphorescent will join The National for the majority of their shows in both mainland Europe, England, and Ireland starting November 11. You can also catch Phosphorescent here in the States for a select number of West Coast dates in mid-October including appearances at the Treasure Island Festival in San Francisco, and the City Arts Festival in Seattle. Phosphorescent will also be capping off the year with a headlining show in their hometown of New York, at the Bowery Ballroom on December 10. Check out the full tour dates after the jump.

Phosphorescent Performs on NPR’s World Cafe Tomorrow

Earlier this year David Dye host of NPR’s World Cafe featured Phosphorescent’s new album Here’s To Taking It Easy calling it ”the soundtrack of my spring 2010″ and describing the music as “a shambling psychedlicized alt-country that seemingly sparkles with the band’s interplay.” We’re excited to announce that Phosphorescent will be the guest on World Cafe performing live on the show tomorrow, August 26. Recorded in Philadelphia at the studios of host station WXPN, World Cafe is nationally syndicated and can be heard on over 200 radio stations nationwide. Tune in on your local NPR affiliate or you can stream the show through the WXPN website HERE.
