LISTEN // Interview Mag Premieres Julianna Barwick’s “One Half”, Pre-Order ‘Nepenthe’ Out August 20th

Interview Magazine premiered the new single, “One Half” from solo artist Julianna Barwick. The track, off her recently announced new album, Nepenthe, is the first audio we have heard from her follow-up album to the fantastic 2011 release The Magic Place. Nepenthe was recorded in Iceland with Alex Somers (Sigur Rós, Jónsi, Jónsi & Alex) and the album definitely plays well against the dark and lush landscapes of the recording environment. Compared to her last album, recorded in her Brooklyn bedroom studio, this album looks to have much wider and sweeping arrangements transporting the listener to Iceland with Barwick, giving them something truly inspiring to hear.

You can pre-order the new album at SCD, iTunes, and Amazon. If you are in Manhattan in August then stop by Judson Memorial Church on the 20th for her album release show. Check the rest of her tour dates here.

WATCH // Night Beds Perform Live for Lawrence High School’s Film & Media Series

Night Beds stopped by Room 125 at Lawrence High School for a another beautiful live session (aren’t they all, really?) and interview. It’s all for an ongoing project film & media students started awhile ago. You can watch “Lost Springs” and “Was I For You?” in our Youtube playlist above. I personally recommend paying special attention to the 1:50 mark in “Was I For You”; Winston and Caleb work some special harmonizing magic. Siggghhhh.

Did you see Winston on Rachael Ray earlier this week? SPIN certainly did, which means you probably should too….fast forward to the 3:40 mark and open your eyes.

Interview With an Angel // Night Beds & NBC New York

NBC’s Oresti Tsonopoulos had the chance to sit down with Winston Yellen, the “angel-voiced frontman” of Night Beds, while he was in New York City a month or so ago for a sold out show at Pianos. So far we’ve learned Winston loves cooking, reading and hanging out with old men. What else does he fancy? Watch the interview above to find out!

Winston and the rest of the guys head out on the road in mid February. The tour includes dates with Indians and Cat Martino. Check out the full schedule HERE.
