ALBUM LYRICS // Phosphorescent – ‘Muchacho’

Sun, Arise! (An Invocation, An Introduction)

Sun a-rising. Ease. Easy oh.
Dark as I been. Ease. Easy oh.

Be easy oh.

Dark as I been. Ease. Easy oh.
Sun’s a-rising. Easy. Easy oh.

Be easy oh.
Be easy oh.
Be.

Song For Zula

Some say love is a burning thing
That it makes a fiery ring
Oh but I know love as a fading thing
Just as fickle as a feather in a stream
See, honey, I saw love. You see, it came to me
It put its face up to my face so I could see
Yeah then I saw love disfigure me
Into something I am not recognizing

See, the cage, it called. I said, “Come on in”
I will not open myself up this way again
Nor lay my face to the soil, nor my teeth to the sand
I will not lay like this for days now upon end
You will not see me fall, nor see me struggle to stand
To be acknowledge by some touch from his gnarled hands
You see, the cage, it called. I said, “Come on in”
I will not open myself up this way again

You see, the moon is bright in that treetop night
I see the shadows that we cast in the cold, clean light
My feet are gold. My heart is white
And we race out on the desert plains all night
See, honey, I am not some broken thing
I do not lay here in the dark waiting for thee
No my heart is gold. My feet are light
And I am racing out on the desert plains all night

So some say love is a burning thing
That it makes a fiery ring
Oh but I know love as a caging thing
Just a killer come to call from some awful dream
O and all you folks, you come to see
You just stand there in the glass looking at me
But my heart is wild. And my bones are steam
And I could kill you with my bare hands if I was free

Phosphorescent’s “Muchacho” coming March 19th – Stream “Song For Zula”

Incredible news today for Phosphorescent fans! NEW RECORD IS COMING! Muchacho will be out on March 19th, and we have the first single, “Song For Zula,” for streaming.

Muchacho is already described as “a clear departure from the honky-tonk classic rock of 2010′s Here’s To Taking It Easy, and an assemblage of underwater hymns redolent of both record’s spare, sometimes psychedelic predecessor, 2007′s Pride.” More details about the recording of Muchacho and a photo gallery of Matthew in his recording studio ran last month at SPIN.com.

Lyrics for “Song For Zula” are after the jump!

Lyrics from The Tallest Man On Earth’s “There’s No Leaving Now”

The Tallest Man On Earth’s new record, There’s No Leaving Now, is out June 12th. Kristian shares lyrics from the album. Read below.

To Just Grow Away

We’re melting ruby hearts
a confusing trade
to burn the ore
to shape a blade
then to swing it low
beginners fate
to lose a skin
to just grow away
Like a rain, to help a river
but a river so hard to please
but I’ve grown to see the diamonds
you’ve thrown in just for me
We spent so many nights
just gathering stones
the silver tears
old sapphire bones
all the copper leaves
then dreamt, now true
look how they find their path
to cut right through
Like a rain, to help a river
but a river so hard to please
but I’ve grown to see the diamonds
you’ve thrown in just for me
Look when your hopeless child will figure
there are moments when hope’s not
only real when flagging far down a road
with an armful broken arrows
and no hand free for the bow
your kid will lose a battle
but your ways
will let him go
I lose my wish to drown
and aimless flee
what you’ve thrown to lose
is still right here with me.
