WATCH // Bishop Allen “Why I Had To Go” Via Billboard Premiere, Tour Dates Start 8/16

Two weeks out from the release of Lights Out, Bishop Allen is back with a video for “Why I Had to Go” the second single off the new album via Billboard premiere. The video directors Chad Smith and Bishop Allen’s Justin Rice chose hula-hooping not only because the song is about (to quote the lyrics), “the endless repetition of an action,” but also because it gave people something mesmerizing and all-consuming to focus on, which meant they weren’t self-conscious in front of the camera.  The goal was to capture natural expressions of innate personality, and to do it in slow motion. Watch the entrancing video above or here on YouTube / Vevo.

Pre-order the new album Lights Out via SC Distribution for the deluxe bundle which includes limited-edition white vinyl, a CD, downloads, + a hand-screened glow-in-the-dark poster. You can also get the album on iTunes, Amazon, or at your local record store.

The band plays Kingston on the 16th and Boston on the 20th before returning to Brooklyn for their record release show at Glasslands on August 21st to start off the first of many tour dates supporting the new album. More dates will be announced soon.

WATCH // Phosphorescent Releases Video for “Ride On / Right On”, Continues Tour Through UK / US

Phosphorescent has been busy touring across the US, and today the band released the official video for “Ride On / Right On” off their newest album, Muchacho. Directed by and starring Phosphorescent’s Matthew Houck, the video shows off Houck’s dancing skills and shows he has the power to start fireworks over the Hudson River with only his mind (or possibly just good timing). Watch the video above or HERE on YouTube then read more below to watch Phoshorescent perform “Ride On / Right On” live at Pitchfork Festival this year, and see new tour dates.

Bowerbirds Release New Video For “Sweet Moment”

Young love can be a powerful force. Young love, when faced with saying goodbye, can be even more powerful. Directed by Jacob Feiring, the video for “Sweet Moment” wonderfully captures these emotions. The story of two young lovers, running away from their lives, set to the comforting tunes of the Bowerbirds makes for a video that causes nostalgia to set in and the memories of young love to come floating back. Watch above.

Be sure to catch Bowerbirds on tour this summer! See the full list of tour dates HERE.

NURSES, New Video, Tour with The Mountain Goats

When Nurses were in New York City this fall, they filmed a session with Hooves on the Turf, who captured stunning stripped down renditions of “New Feelings” and “Trying to Reach You.” The essence of the band’s unique approach to songcraft really shines in this clip.

Following a New Year’s Eve show at Mississippi Studios in their hometown of Portland, OR Nurses will head for warmer pastures touring with The Mountain Goats at shows throughout the southern United States. Check out the tour dates right HERE.
