Mt St Helens Vietnam Band’s Benjamin Verdoes Performs on Local Seattle TV for Noise for the Needy

Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band is performing at the Noise for the Needy Festival in Seattle this Saturday June 12 at The Vera Project. Yesterday morning lead singer Benjamin Verdoes made an appearance on New Day NW the local morning news talk show on Seattle’s King 5. Watch above, as Ben does a beautiful solo version of “At Night” from their most recent record Where The Messengers Meet as well as sitting down and talking about the band and festival. MSHVB’s drummer Marshall Verdoes also makes an appearance on the show, looking pretty slick in a nice blazer. In addition to Noise for the Needy you can also catch MSHVB live this Friday June 11 at the Floyd Norgaard Historic Center in Stanwood, WA.

 

WATCH: New Video for The Donkeys “Don’t Know Who We Are”

Above is The Donkeys new video for “Don’t Know Who We Are” off of their new album Born With Stripes, which is out this week. The video was directed by Jeff Lowe and features pinatas, psychedelia, and some cool looks at street art around the band’s hometown, San Diego.

Speaking of San Diego, The Donkeys will be all over the city this Saturday (4/30) playing three in-store performances at Cow Records (noon PT), M-Theory (1:45pm PT), and Record City (3:30pm PT) before heading to Sushi Arts that evening for their official record release show.

The Luyas Share New Video, Release New Split 7-Inch with Twin Sister

Above is the new video from the Luyas for the title track off of their new record “Too Beautiful To Work.” The Luyas team up again with director Derrick Belcham of A Story Well Told, continuing a collaboration that has yielded such projects as the video for “Tiny Head” and the La Blogotheque curated live video “Everything is Outta Sight.” Check out an interview with Derrick and the band about the making of the video on Spinner right HERE.

In addition, the Luyas will be celebrating Record Store Day on April 16, with an exclusive split 7-inch with close friends Twin Sister. The record contains two new songs: the Luyas “When I Am a Woman” and Twin Sister’s “Meet the Frownies.” Twin Sister’s track was recorded for the wonderful Weathervane Music project. Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band Invade Your Backyard in New Video

Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band’s new video for “Leaving Trails” is a dark and twisting tale that unfolds like a nightmare version of a backyard barbeque. The band members follow an ever turning camera, schizophrenically splitting into multiples of themselves, while random people and ghostly objects come and go. It has the effect of a David Lynch project, where a proper narrative remains elusive, but enough space is left to allow your mind to connect things in its own way. The video was directed by the That Go team, Noel Paul and Stefan Moore. Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band open for Dismemberment Plan at the Showbox Sodo in Seattle tomorrow (Saturday March 12), go check em out.
