Escape with Akron/Family’s New Video for “Island”

It’s that bad day at the office when the whole world feels like it’s on your shoulders and the walls just keep on creeping closer and closer. You close your eyes and wish for an escape: a mountaintop, a warm comfy blanket, or a beachside oasis. This moment of daydreaming is what is captured in Akron/Family’s new video for “Island.” Take a pause from your hectic day and be whisked away and transported to another, more peaceful place and time.

Akron/Family start the second half of their North American tour in support of their new albumS/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT, March 24 in Seattle. Then in May Akron/Family cross the Atlantic waters for a full tour of Europe. Check out the full tour dates HERE.

Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band Invade Your Backyard in New Video

Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band’s new video for “Leaving Trails” is a dark and twisting tale that unfolds like a nightmare version of a backyard barbeque. The band members follow an ever turning camera, schizophrenically splitting into multiples of themselves, while random people and ghostly objects come and go. It has the effect of a David Lynch project, where a proper narrative remains elusive, but enough space is left to allow your mind to connect things in its own way. The video was directed by the That Go team, Noel Paul and Stefan Moore. Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band open for Dismemberment Plan at the Showbox Sodo in Seattle tomorrow (Saturday March 12), go check em out.

Akron/Family Release Epic New Video for “Silly Bears.” New Album Out Today!

The wait is over, after all the random packages, cryptic messages, and transmissions from the great beyond, Akron/Family’s new album S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT is now available in stores.

In celebration we are excited to share a properly epic new video for Akron/Family’s “Silly Bears.” Directed by Matt Brunson, the new video is filled with robots, time warps, airplanes, horses, and of course plenty of silly bears. Part Rubik’s Cube, part Time Bandits, this video is the perfect visual reckoning of the opening track from Akron/Family’s new album. Check out a short Q&A about the video with Akron/Family’s Miles Seaton on Spin Magazine’s website HERE. Akron/Family starts their North American tour Feb. 17, with dates in Europe to follow in May. “So It Goes” Says Akron/Family

Today we are happy to release a new mp3 and video for “So It Goes” the first single from Akron/Family’s new album S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT.

“So It Goes’” bawdily soulful psych-bounce maps the journey home of an open heart turned halfway cold by a climate all too often suspicious of simple kindness and sincerity. The vocals testify with raw beauty and wry confidence over a groove both surly and sexy. The riff is oh so sticky, and the whole boat seems to sway with abandon while Upsetters-style backup singers keep you swaying in agreement…and just then the wind picks up and tosses you into the classic Vonnegut-nodding refrain of “so it goes,” echoing out and carrying you through into a coda that sounds like it could have been copped right off one of the early Ak CDR releases – all sweetness and color and contrapuntal dreaminess. It’s an epic 2:36, and it’s just the first taste of the fractal wonders to come.

New Video: Citay’s “Dream Get Together”

Citay has just released a new video for the title track off of their new album Dream Get Together. It features their hometown of San Francisco prominently, as the band busks in Chinatown and drives around sight-seeing all the while keeping their mighty three guitar assault comin’ at cha. We also get a sneak peak into Citay’s practice space, and how much fun Citay’s practices must be! Very dreamy, very San Francsico, very Citay. And a special shout-out to long time Citay member Tahlia Harbour, who is playing her final show with Citay tonight at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco. She’s added a special element to the band over the last few years with her angelic pipes and musical talent. She will be missed, and everybody here at Dead Oceans wishes her well in her new endeavours! Citay has a few more dates left on their current West Coast tour. Full dates are below.
