CHEERS // Brazos Sign to Dead Oceans, Announce Sophomore Album & Music Video

Enter –> BRAZOS! It has been a long time coming, but today we have the greatest pleasure of welcoming Brazos to the DOC family. Fronted by Martin Crane, Brazos is a New York City by way of Austin outfit that’s about to take residency in your musical brain and stay forever.

In addition to Brazo’s signing, we have a brand new album to announce! Saltwater is Brazos sophomore work, constructed out of a creative lull and two years spent finding one’s foundation. The album drops May 28 and pre-order information will be here imminently. Until then, check out the artwork below and the track listing at the bottom of the post.

You can hear [see] the first single [video] today! Premiering this morning at SPIN, “How The Ranks Was Won” “rolls forth with a breezy, downright jaunty ease, all of those comely oohs, playful strums, and bouncy rhythms provide a vehicle for ideas far more complex….” Martin explains the video concept below! WATCH ABOVE.

“‘How the Ranks Was Won’ is about a kid who finds the empty ship his ancestors came over on which is now a ghost ship. He boards it, and takes it back. It’s about taking charge of your memory and your past. I thought it would be funny to do that in modern life. In the video I get a text message from a memory (or maybe my cell phone is secretly trying to control me?), it consumes me, I ride the dreamworld, I come back, then the dreamworld rides me.”

1. Always On
2. Charm
3. How the Ranks Was Won
