John Vanderslice Featured Subject of Noisepop Art Event, Set to Play Festival February 23

Interested in seeing some awesome photos of John Vanderslice in person? You’ll have to head to San Francisco, but here’s your chance. Photographer Peter Ellenby brings us DC/JV, an extensive collection of Death Cab for Cutie and Vanderslice portaits taken during the last fifteen years. Presented as a historical documentation of two varied, but undoubtedly successful musical careers, “DC/JV presents its subjects’ stories intimately, through the eyes of a photographer who has been there since the beginning.” A Noisepop Art Event brought to you by San Franpsycho, DC/JV’s opening reception takes place on February 2, followed by a festival reception on February 23.

As the official photographer for Noise Pop Festival, Peter Ellenby will also showcase his festival photos in celebration of it’s twentieth anniversary. Vanderslice, who as Ellenby describes him, “is like the glue that holds SF’s music scene together, will perform in Noise Pop Festival on February 23 at Bottom of the Hill. In the meantime, preview DC/JV HERE.

JV Planning a Special Show with Magik*Magik Orchestra

On June 17 John Vanderslice will join Magik*Magik Orchestra for a special show at San Francisco’s Herbst Theater. The 30 piece orchestra, which recorded with JV on his latest record White Wilderness, will play the album plus back catalog hits. The show is also celebrating Magik*Magik Orchestra’s 3-year anniversary! This may be a one of a kind show, so it’s not to be missed.

Presale tickets for this show are now available HERE for $20. The presale password is magik.

New JV Videos At One Night Music

Look at this handsome man!  John Vanderslice and his band member Jamie Riotto did a live session for Pirate Cat Radio in San Francisco back in July, and One Night Music posted several really hi-quality video recordings of the session as well as some nice photographs.

Below is the video they shot for “Too Much Time,” but there are several more great videos at their site here.

New Video: Citay’s “Dream Get Together”

Citay has just released a new video for the title track off of their new album Dream Get Together. It features their hometown of San Francisco prominently, as the band busks in Chinatown and drives around sight-seeing all the while keeping their mighty three guitar assault comin’ at cha. We also get a sneak peak into Citay’s practice space, and how much fun Citay’s practices must be! Very dreamy, very San Francsico, very Citay. And a special shout-out to long time Citay member Tahlia Harbour, who is playing her final show with Citay tonight at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco. She’s added a special element to the band over the last few years with her angelic pipes and musical talent. She will be missed, and everybody here at Dead Oceans wishes her well in her new endeavours! Citay has a few more dates left on their current West Coast tour. Full dates are below.
