Bill Fay’s new album, Who Is The Sender?, out 4/28 on Dead Oceans, is the much anticipated but hardly-dared-hoped-for follow up to 2012’s Life is People, which was Bill’s first solo studio album in 41 years and a deserved critical and commercial success.
Previously, the profoundly affecting song “War Machine” was shared, Fay’s call to people everywhere to stop being complacent to the violence we often don’t realize is being committed in our names. NPR Music then premiered the meditative “Something Else Ahead”, a contemplation on what lies ahead once our time on earth is over. Now, we’re proud to share the gorgeous and slow build of “A Page Incomplete.” Hear it above or on our Soundcloud / YouTube page.
To celebrate yesterday’s release of Ryley Walker‘s Primrose Green, director Bethany Schmitt [her videos on YouTube / Vimeo] shot the new “Sweet Satisfaction” video on film in Las Vegas and the desert surroundings. Watch the mystical trip above or on our YouTube page or on Daily Motion.
Noisey premiered the video this afternoon with a supremely enlightening interview with Ryley that you can read here.

The announcement two weeks ago that The Tallest Man On Earth will release his first new album since 2012 this spring on Dead Oceans was met with open arms and eager anticipation. While the album trailer is a beautiful indication of what’s to come, the first single, “Sagres,” takes us a step further into the world of Dark Bird Is Home. It’s an album that presents Kristian Matsson at his most personal and direct, deeper and darker than ever at times, yet also an album with strokes of whimsy and the scent of new beginnings. It feels fresh and well timed. Hear “Sagres” via YouTube or our Soundcloud page.
The Tallest Man On Earth‘s Dark Bird Is Home is out May 12th on Dead Oceans and available for pre-order now. All iTunes and SC Distribution pre-orders come with an instant free download of “Sagres“.
For the next few years, the Dark Bird tour will come to your city or a town nearby, and for the first time Kristian is bringing a band to the stage with him. Click ‘Read More’ to see full dates + pre-order information.
A Place To Bury Strangers will tour in support of Transfixiation starting starting tonight and will be joined on the road by Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, Creepoid and more! They cap it all off with a performance at Austin Psych Fest in May. Full list of tour dates after the jump.
Today, Portland-based rockers Greylag have released the ferociously anthemic “Yours To Shake” via Brooklyn Vegan. “Yours To Shake” joins previously released single “Another” on the band’s self-titled debut album, out Oct. 14th on Dead Oceans. If you are lucky enough to find yourself on the west coast this October, the band will be playing a handful of dates with The Whigs, with more shows appearing in the near future. Full dates are below.
