Phosphorescent Brings “Song for Zula” With Strings and Swagger to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

 

Phosphorescent brought a transcendent performance of Muchacho‘s breakout hit “Song for Zula” to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. The touring band was joined by a string section – making an already special rendition even more gorgeous. Grab a handkerchief and enjoy a good cry. This is television magic, people!

Also just in: a new feature about Phosphorescent at Urban Outfitters! And a word to you New Yorkers: go see Phosphorescent at the Crossing Brooklyn Ferry festival on Saturday night. It’ll be a Dessner-approved good time.

Premiering this morning at NPR’s All Songs Considered, it is the new Djuna Wahlrab & Matthew Houck co-directed video for “Song For Zula.” Captured in one continuous, slow-motion shot, the video focuses in on a woman as she painfully tries to free herself.
