DOC / JAG / SC & STICKYGRAM SXSW INSTAGRAM CONTEST

Hello party people! Are you roaming the streets of Austin, checking out the best SXSW showcases and sipping on cold beer? Sure hope so! Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, and Secretly Canadian have teamed up with Stickygram for a SXSW Instagram photo contest and we went all of you to be a part of it!

Here’s the deal: You take awesome photos and post to Instagram using the HASHTAG #DOCJAGSCSXSW. We’ve got several categories, so basically just start snapping away! We’ll reward the “best” photos with some sweet prizes, including vinyl, posters, mp3 downloads, and much more! Stickygram is jumping in on this too and we’ll turn some of your photos into magnets! Try Not to Have a Seizure While Watching Bear in Heaven’s Video For “The Reflection of You”

Holy bananas. Bear in Heaven recently snagged PFFR LTD, the famed art collective behind Wonder Showzen, Xavier: Renegade Angel and The Heart, She Holler, to direct this trippy, seizure-inducing video of “The Reflection of You.” The video, which premiered this morning over on Vice’s music channel Noisey, is a sweet mixture of zoom shots, dancing dudes and neon lights. Might be best to sit down while you enjoy this one. Bear in Heaven hit the road next week for a massive US tour (including appearances at SXSW), followed by a string of EU/UK dates. The Luyas Visit Daytrotter, Tour with the Dodos

At SXSW this past March, the Luyas visited Big Orange Studios in Austin, and recorded a Daytrotter session. Listen to the band’s fiery take on “Spherical Mattress” from Too Beautiful To Work, along with three others here. Get over to Daytrotter and put this one on repeat, it’s perfect.

The Luyas embark on another long tour in just a few weeks. They’re joining the Dodos once again, this time in North America. We can’t wait to see them onstage together — a little Doyas magic happens when they join forces onstage every night. Check out the full list of shows here. We will have more European dates for the Luyas very soon, stay tuned.

Sun Airway Plays Urban, Draws Ninja Turtles at SXSW

Sun Airway performed a hell of a set at the patio of Urban Outfitters last week at SXSW. The UO staff took a nice video and also played finger paints with them – check out their Ninja Turtle skills!!!

Party with Dead Oceans at SXSW 2011

If you’re venturing to SXSW next week or you’re lucky enough to live in Austin, TX all year long, mark your calendar for next Wednesday night when the Dead Oceans/ Secretly Canadian/ Jagjaguwar SXSW showcase invades Red 7! We’ll be hanging all night with Sun Airway, John Vanderslice, The Luyas and more, so be sure to drop by and say hello.
