LISTEN // Bill Fay Shares Track “A Page Incomplete”, New Album ‘Who Is The Sender?’ Out April 27th / 28th

“Bill Fay’s songs are so full of so much awe and wonder at life that they just make you so grateful to be part of this miracle that none of us really understand”

– Robin Hilton, NPR Music

Bill Fay’s new album, Who Is The Sender?, out 4/28 on Dead Oceans, is the much anticipated but hardly-dared-hoped-for follow up to 2012’s Life is People, which was Bill’s first solo studio album in 41 years and a deserved critical and commercial success.

Previously, the profoundly affecting song “War Machine” was shared, Fay’s call to people everywhere to stop being complacent to the violence we often don’t realize is being committed in our names. NPR Music then premiered the meditative “Something Else Ahead”, a contemplation on what lies ahead once our time on earth is over. Now, we’re proud to share the gorgeous and slow build of “A Page Incomplete.” Hear it above or on our Soundcloud / YouTube page.

You can pre-order the new album via SC Distribution / Dead Oceans, iTunes, Amazon, and your local record store.

WATCH // Bishop Allen “Why I Had To Go” Via Billboard Premiere, Tour Dates Start 8/16

Two weeks out from the release of Lights Out, Bishop Allen is back with a video for “Why I Had to Go” the second single off the new album via Billboard premiere. The video directors Chad Smith and Bishop Allen’s Justin Rice chose hula-hooping not only because the song is about (to quote the lyrics), “the endless repetition of an action,” but also because it gave people something mesmerizing and all-consuming to focus on, which meant they weren’t self-conscious in front of the camera.  The goal was to capture natural expressions of innate personality, and to do it in slow motion. Watch the entrancing video above or here on YouTube / Vevo.

Pre-order the new album Lights Out via SC Distribution for the deluxe bundle which includes limited-edition white vinyl, a CD, downloads, + a hand-screened glow-in-the-dark poster. You can also get the album on iTunes, Amazon, or at your local record store.

The band plays Kingston on the 16th and Boston on the 20th before returning to Brooklyn for their record release show at Glasslands on August 21st to start off the first of many tour dates supporting the new album. More dates will be announced soon.

WATCH // Califone Debut Interactive Video for “Stitches” on Tumblr, Start Living Room Tour August 21st

In a unique approach to a music video, Califone worked with filmmaker Braden King and programmer Jeff Garneau using Tumblr to debut a beautiful and haunting interactive video of the new album’s title track “Stitches”. Garneau programmed the video to randomly pull images and animated GIFs from a previously selected set of Tumblr sites to provide a truly distinctive experience every time the viewer watches the video. Head over to Califone’s Tumblr HERE to find and experience the hidden video that Nate Auerbach, Tumblr’s Music Evangelist, calls, “deeper than an album jacket and more intense than a music video, because it is living and breathing.”
