Catch A Glimpse of Nurses Vinyl in Production

We recently got some snapshots of the Nurses new album Dracula while it was in the final stages of production from the pressing plant, and thought we’d offer a peak behind the scenes. You can’t play this on your iPod!

We will have more news soon on a Nurses tour and info on an album pre-order. In the meantime, if you have not listened to the album opener “Fever Dreams,” don’t wait for the vinyl. Download it.

JOHN VANDERSLICE’s New 7″ Single Available for Pre-Order

“D.I.A.L.O.,” the second 7″ single from JOHN VANDERSLICE’s 2009 release, Romanian Names is now available for pre-order. The song is a highlight from an album with no shortage of highlights, and paired with the exclusive non-album track “Do What You Want” makes for an incredible 1-2 punch. The fried out fuzz-pop of “Do What You Want” plays a perfect foil to the spacey sonics of “D.Ihttp://deadoceans.com/blog/wp-admin/edit.php.A.L.O.” Containing two instant classics, one per side, this is the way a great 7″ single should be.

Pre-order “D.I.A.L.O.” HERE.

AKRON/FAMILY 7-inch Single Out Today

A new 7-inch single from AKRON/FAMILY is available today. “River” is the second single from Akron/Family’s 2009 release, Set ‘Em Wild, Set ‘Em Free. Like the “Everyone is Guilty” 7-inch, “River” features an exclusive non-album b-side, the lovely “Morning on Michigan Avenue (Thinking of Old Friends).” Strictly limited edition, we advise scoring one of these slabs of vinyl now.

The centerpiece of JOHN VANDERSLICE’S Romanian Names, the perfect pop gem “Too Much Time,” is now being released as a limited-edition 7″ on October 6th. The song received Song Of the Day honors by NPR, whose critics called Romanian Names “his best record yet.” The single features the infectious exclusive b-side “Moon Rocks,” a song that fits neatly alongside Romanian Names. All pre-orders of the 7″ will receive an instant download of both “Too Much Time” and “Moon Rocks.” Click HERE to pre-order the Too Much Time 7″.

Dead Oceans is also proud to share an unreleased track from JV. “Too Much Time” began as a demo with JV’s vocal melodies soaring simply over synthesizers, and we are happy to share this awesome alternate version with the internet. Click HERE for the demo version of “Too Much Time.”

JV, traveling this week to perform at the Austin City Limits Festival, will be performing in the UK and across Europe this October and November. See the full tour HERE.
