WHITE HINTERLAND Plots Tour with Dosh, Shares MP3 and Kairos Pre-Order Deal

In January, we introduced you to a wholly new sound from WHITE HINTERLAND, a progressive, washy R&B, with a playful, dubby backbone. T’was no fluke, fellow music enthusiast. With Kairos, Casey Dienel and musical partner Shawn Creeden have gracefully dived headlong into a pool of gorgeous, cerebral, danceable sounds.

The latest taster jam from Kairos is “No Logic,” which, as Gorilla vs. Bear said today, is “further evidence of Casey Dienel’s unexpected but seamless transformation into seductive minimal R&B/pop star.” And believe it or not, the herky-jerky-dub of “No Logic” is actually built around an acid-fried ukulele melody. Listen close and you’ll hear it in there. And soon, you will be able to see the live construction of the song, as White Hinterland heads out on a North American tour with Dosh, who will be in support of his own wicked new record.

Download “New Logic” HERE.

JOHN VANDERSLICE’s New 7″ Single Available for Pre-Order

“D.I.A.L.O.,” the second 7″ single from JOHN VANDERSLICE’s 2009 release, Romanian Names is now available for pre-order. The song is a highlight from an album with no shortage of highlights, and paired with the exclusive non-album track “Do What You Want” makes for an incredible 1-2 punch. The fried out fuzz-pop of “Do What You Want” plays a perfect foil to the spacey sonics of “D.Ihttp://deadoceans.com/blog/wp-admin/edit.php.A.L.O.” Containing two instant classics, one per side, this is the way a great 7″ single should be.

Pre-order “D.I.A.L.O.” HERE.

ON FILLMORE Album Available for Pre-Order

ON FILLMORE’S Extended Vacation is now available for pre-order from the Dead Oceans Mailorder Catalog. Once dubbed “the rhythm section’s revenge” by Jim O’Rourke, On Fillmore is back with their most elaborate work, Extended Vacation. The duo is formed by bassist Darin Gray and percussionist Glenn Kotche, who were originally hand-picked by O’Rourke as the rhythm section for his album Eureka (Drag City, 1999) and joined him on several tours and his next two albums. It was in 2000 during a gig at Scott Walker’s Meltdown Festival in London while touring with O’Rourke that On Fillmore was conceptualized. Nearly a decade later, the band is stretching the very definition of the term “rhythm section.”

Extended Vacation will be out on Dead Oceans November 3, but you can pre-order the album HERE.

AKRON/FAMILY 7-inch Single Available for Pre-Order

A new 7-inch single from AKRON/FAMILY is now available for pre-order. “River” is the second single from Akron/Family’s 2009 release, Set ‘Em Wild, Set ‘Em Free. Like the “Everyone is Guilty” 7-inch, “River” features an exclusive non-album b-side, the lovely “Morning on Michigan Avenue (Thinking of Old Friends).” Strictly limited edition, we advise scoring one of these slabs of vinyl now.

The single is set for an October 20 release, but pre-order is available HERE.
