Aaron Frazer, the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and member of the acclaimed group Durand Jones & the Indications, releases new single “It’s A Shame,” out today via Dead Oceans. “It’s A Shame” will also be released as a 7” with the 2024 Into The Blue’s “The Fool” as a b-side, out on June 12 via Colemine.

“It’s A Shame” arrives with a music video directed and choreographed by Camryn Eakes. Shot on a 1970s tube camera, the video is a tribute to local television performances of the era, with Frazer fronting a quartet of dancers.

Aaron Frazer says, “Blehhh the feeling of going back to square one ya know? That’s what ‘It’s A Shame’ is about. The frustration that every time you think you’ve found the one, it winds up falling apart. A new story with the same ending. The recording itself is actually mostly an iPhone voice memo, with vocals and string tracks on top. You can go a long way with just the tools in your pocket and some talented friends.”

Aaron Frazer first gained recognition as the co-lead vocalist and drummer of Durand Jones & the Indications. He has since released two solo albums – his 2021 debut Introducing… and 2024’s Into the Blue, which saw him expand into a broader, more exploratory sound. “It’s A Shame” marks his first new solo music since.
