Ryley Walker Shares New Track, “Diggin’ A Ditch”

Posted on 10/23/2018

Ryley Walker will release his highly anticipated album, The Lillywhite Sessions, on November 16th. It’s the follow up to this year’s Deafman Glance which “marked the most significant transformation in an already shape-shifting career… [The Lillywhite Sessions] is perhaps the strangest addendum to Deafman Glance that one could’ve imagined, and yet it somehow works” (Stereogum).

Pre-order The Lillywhite Sessions

Walker delivers a powerful, heartfelt meditation on the twists and turns of an individual’s musical journey across a life of enthusiastic and curious listening. Through his thoughtful performance and rearrangement, with frequent collaborators Andrew Scott Young and Ryan Jewell, he submits that perhaps DMB is justly due the reassessment it’s slowly been granted in the pop zeitgeist as of late. “For all the instrumental reinvention though, Walker seems keenly tapped into the existential fears that the DMB’s buoyant jams have a tendency to obscure” (Aquarium Drunkard).

Having previously shared “Busted Stuff,” Walker unveils “Diggin’ A Ditch” today. The original limned a lifetime of disappointments, found only the most flickering hope, and resolved to make it there. With Walker, “Diggin’ a Ditch” becomes a power trio wallop à la Dinosaur Jr., shaking off that existential malaise like twenty-something pals writing rock songs in the garage. This record is for anyone that’s interested in the possibility of unapologetic honesty, of reckoning fully with who you were and are while on the pathway to whatever you may become.
