Phosphorescent Van, Gear Recovered by NYPD

A Christmas miracle? Whatever you want to call it, we are thrilled to report that Phosphorescent’s stolen van and gear was recovered last night by NYPD. We really appreciate all of the kind words that have been sent our way over the past few days — the endless support has been simply amazing. The band will be refunding any donations in full ASAP.

We are happy to put this behind and to be able to focus on the tour ahead. Phosphorescent are hauling to Columbus as I type this, and are thrilled for their upcoming shows. Don’t forget, joining Phosphorescent will be Doug Paisley (7/13-7/18), Shiny Around the Edges (7/21-7/24) and J. Tillman (7/27-8/15). Phosphorescent will also be performing at the Treasure Island Festival in San Francisco on October 17.

Below is a note from Matthew:

this is insane!
the police have recovered the van
and
all of our gear is in there
and appears to be un-damaged

speechless right now,
more soon, love phos

[...] The other day I posted that alt country band Phosphoresent had their van stolen after a gig while parked on a street in Brooklyn, losing $ 40,000 worth of gear. Miraculously, the van was found by NYPD with all the gear still inside the van! The band is elated and now they need to return the donations they received from their fans and friends. I suppose there are two ways the band could welcome this news:

    1. “Wow. We are so lucky. We need to be more sensible and cautious in the future, to prevent this from happening again, as we may not be so fortunate in the future.”

    2. “Wow. Critics like us. The 10,000 to 20,000 people who WISH they were critics like us. And now, THE GODS THEMSELVES rain down their glory upon us. We are truly kings among men, and nothing can touch us now. Why even bother locking the van?”

Hopefully they will chose the former and not let this go to their heads.

In other news, attention thieves: there is a rental van with over $40,000 dollars worth of rare vintage musical equipment coming to your town. The owners seem to just leave it parked on random streets in residential neighborhoods. For more information, just check the Phosphorescent tour schedule at deadoceans.com.

Phosphorscent is the best band in America today in my humble opinion. I’m sure most music aficianado’s disagree w/me, of course it’s completely a personal and subjective opinion, but are there those out there who agree? Let me know.
