Independent Label Market in Brooklyn this Saturday

If you are in NY this weekend, join us at the Independent Label Market, part of the Brooklyn Flea‘s 4th annual record fair. Dead Oceans will be selling our wares at a booth with sister labels Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian. We’ll be in the esteemed company of many other amazing independent labels including Domino, XL, Fool’s Gold, 4AD, Mexican Summer, True Panther, Angular, Kanine, Minimal Wave, DFA, Sacred Bones, Young Turks, Throne of Blood, Captured Tracks, What’s Your Rupture?, Wierd, and Terrible. Think of Independent Label Market as our take on a farmer’s market. This is an opportunity for fans to interact with and buy records directly from the label owners themselves. The ILM debuted as a rousing success in London this May. This Saturday’s market in Brooklyn is the first ILM event in the US, and hopefully one of many such events in the future.

Many of the participating labels will have some exclusive or limited items on hand. We’ll be selling copies of Gauntlet Hair’s eponymous debut in advance of the 10/18/11 release date, along with the last few Luyas / Twin Sister 7″s that we dug up in our warehouse after Record Store Day. Of course we’ll have plenty of other Dead Oceans gems on hand for you to flip through as well. Perhaps best of all, you can buy our records directly from two of our fearless leaders. Be sure to ask Chris Swanson for tips on tweeting while driving, or request a seminar on the art of crizzle. Darius Van Arman may be patrolling the market on bike, but he will surely stop to give you fantasy football match-ups advice for the first bye week.

Here are all the crucial details. Hope to see you there!
