Akron/Family premiered their new single, along with an interview, today at SPIN. Titled “Until the Morning,” the new single echos a change in in Akron’s writing style and the place they derive their lyrical meaning. “I feel like we’re telling our own story now and it’s less fairy tale,” shares Miles. Listen to “Until the Morning” above.

Night Beds stopped by Room 125 at Lawrence High School for a another beautiful live session (aren’t they all, really?) and interview. It’s all for an ongoing project film & media students started awhile ago. You can watch “Lost Springs” and “Was I For You?” in our Youtube playlistabove. I personally recommend paying special attention to the 1:50 mark in “Was I For You”; Winston and Caleb work some special harmonizing magic. Siggghhhh.
Bleached are back at it! Keeping with their fashion streak, the girls premiered their brand new video for “Next Stop” at Vogue. Directed by Lana Kim, the video stars both Jennifer and Jessica livin’ life and lovin’ (motorcycle rides and dance parties included). You can check out the black and white montage above.
“And become melodic they did. That’s the thing about bands made of siblings—when they nail a musical collaboration, nothing else can beat it.” – VOGUE
“Next Stop” is the first single off of Bleached’s debut album, Ride Your Heart. We’ll have pre-order details for that album imminently, so stay tuned! Until then, check out their spring/summer tour!

Enter –> BRAZOS! It has been a long time coming, but today we have the greatest pleasure of welcoming Brazos to the DOC family. Fronted by Martin Crane, Brazos is a New York City by way of Austin outfit that’s about to take residency in your musical brain and stay forever.
In addition to Brazo’s signing, we have a brand new album to announce! Saltwater is Brazos sophomore work, constructed out of a creative lull and two years spent finding one’s foundation. The album drops May 28 and pre-order information will be here imminently. Until then, check out the artwork below and the track listing at the bottom of the post.
You can hear [see] the first single today! Premiering this morning at SPIN, “How The Ranks Was Won” “rolls forth with a breezy, downright jaunty ease, all of those comely oohs, playful strums, and bouncy rhythms provide a vehicle for ideas far more complex….” Martin explains the video concept below! WATCH ABOVE.
“‘How the Ranks Was Won’ is about a kid who finds the empty ship his ancestors came over on which is now a ghost ship. He boards it, and takes it back. It’s about taking charge of your memory and your past. I thought it would be funny to do that in modern life. In the video I get a text message from a memory (or maybe my cell phone is secretly trying to control me?), it consumes me, I ride the dreamworld, I come back, then the dreamworld rides me.”
