The Luyas Tour with Blonde Redhead & The Dodos

Earlier this spring, the Luyas toured across Europe, including several weeks of dates supporting the Dodos. The bands became fast friends, and this friendship quickly expanded to the Dodos joining the Luyas onstage every night. You can catch a video, shot in Amsterdam, capturing the two bands as they transform the space-age pop of the Luyas “Tiny Head” into a heady kraut-groove right HERE. The bands will join forces once again, this time for a North American tour that starts August 26. This tour comes on the heels of an already busy summer for the Luyas, including dates with Blonde Redhead, and a string of Canadian festival dates at NXNE, Sled Island, Jazz Winnepeg, and Osheaga. Check out the full list of tour dates after the jump.

The Luyas and Dodos = Doyas?

The Doyas from Bamshakalah on Vimeo.

Our good friends at Belmont Bookings and Bamshakalah! recently caught the Luyas and Dodos at Melkweg in Amsterdam during their tour of Europe together. Watch them onstage together transforming the Luyas song “Tiny Head” into a heady kraut-groove. The Luyas also teamed up with cellist Gasper Claus in Paris on “Canary” and the result is stunning. Check out the video below. The Luyas return to the road in June and July for several festival appearances and a run of shows with Blonde Redhead.

The Luyas Go 3-D in France

The Luyas just started a month long European tour, where they’ll be headlining select shows, and supporting The Dodos for several weeks. Watch the Luyas in 3-D from their show in Bordeaux. Is this what happens when you drink all that delicious French wine? Where are my 3-D glasses? If you speak French, check out this wonderful review of the Luyas show in Paris, courtesy of Les Inrockuptibles. The touring never ends with the Luyas, they just added a run of dates with Blonde Redhead in California. Check out the full list of dates here.

The Luyas Share New Video, Release New Split 7-Inch with Twin Sister

Above is the new video from the Luyas for the title track off of their new record “Too Beautiful To Work.” The Luyas team up again with director Derrick Belcham of A Story Well Told, continuing a collaboration that has yielded such projects as the video for “Tiny Head” and the La Blogotheque curated live video “Everything is Outta Sight.” Check out an interview with Derrick and the band about the making of the video on Spinner right HERE.

In addition, the Luyas will be celebrating Record Store Day on April 16, with an exclusive split 7-inch with close friends Twin Sister. The record contains two new songs: the Luyas “When I Am a Woman” and Twin Sister’s “Meet the Frownies.” Twin Sister’s track was recorded for the wonderful Weathervane Music project. Check out the video, produced by Shaking Through HERE. You can spy the 7-inch below, and find more info about it HERE.
