WATCH // The Luyas “Montuno” Paper Bag Records Session, On Tour Now With Califone

If you’ve missed The Luyas we have a double gift for you today. First, we’re psyched to share a mezmerizing Paper Bag Records Session with The Luyas performing “Montuno” from their 2012 album Animator. Watch the session above or here on YouTube.

Watch the New Video for the Luyas’ “Moodslayer”

Premiering earlier today at BOOOOOOOM, the Luyas bring us a brand new video for “Moodslayer” from the album, Too Beautiful to Work. The song delves into the life of a friend dealing with schizophrenia. Director Derrick Belcham created the video to focus “on the dichotomy between the protagonist’s experience of the real and unreal within their psychological construct. They are thrown into a spectacular display of thought forms, settling on archetypes of peace from their youth, but, eventually, they are serenaded back into the unreal where a kind of comfort and control can be maintained.”

Featuring handmade paper animations and a variety of light sequences similar to those used in the Luyas’ live shows, it’s only appropriate the objects in the film are being turned by a record player. The video is a part of a growing artistic collaboration, deemed Schtuff, between the director, Ruby Kato Atwood and Luyas member, Jessie Stein. Enjoy!
