Akron/Family Release Epic New Video for “Silly Bears.” New Album Out Today!

The wait is over, after all the random packages, cryptic messages, and transmissions from the great beyond, Akron/Family’s new album S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT is now available in stores.

In celebration we are excited to share a properly epic new video for Akron/Family’s “Silly Bears.” Directed by Matt Brunson, the new video is filled with robots, time warps, airplanes, horses, and of course plenty of silly bears. Part Rubik’s Cube, part Time Bandits, this video is the perfect visual reckoning of the opening track from Akron/Family’s new album. Check out a short Q&A about the video with Akron/Family’s Miles Seaton on Spin Magazine’s website HERE. Akron/Family starts their North American tour Feb. 17, with dates in Europe to follow in May. You can check out Akron/Family’s full tour schedule HERE.

The Luyas New Album Now Available for Pre-Order. Download the Title Track “Too Beautiful To Work.”

The Luyas new album Too Beautiful To Work comes out Feb. 22, but you can pre-order the album today and receive an instant mp3 download of the full record along with a physical CD or LP copy by street date. Just go HERE to place your order.

In anticipation of the new release we are happy to share a new MP3 for the album’s title track. The song “Too Beautiful To Work” encapsulates everything we love about the Luyas in just under four minutes. It’s a song worth naming an album after, it’s futuristic pop filtered through a blown-out vintage tube amp. Jessie Stein’s elastic wordplay becomes another instrument, dancing atop the rhythmic keyboards and motorik beat. The layers of sound are dense and lush, augmented by the virtuosic violin of sometimes Luya and all the time Arcade Fire member Sarah Neufeld, and swirling sounds of clarinet and saxaphone, courtest of Colin Stetson. It is a song that feels like a mission statement, and we could not imagine the album Too Beautiful To Work opening any other way.

BEHOLD! As of this very moment, Akron/Family’s S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT is now available for pre-order HERE.

First and foremost, all pre-orders get an instant download of the record for immediate bliss. On top of that, we’ve thrown in a few limited edition artifacts. We printed a very limited run of Akron/Family silk screen posters as well as Akron/Family flags bearing the Vonnegut inspired chant of “So It Goes” (check out a picture of these above). Our friends at Joyful Noise Recordings also did a limited edition pressing of purple cassette tapes for S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT which you can order HERE.

Finally, for those that prefer digital media over physical, S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT is available today at iTunesAmazoneMusic and other DSPs.

And if that isn’t exciting enough news itself, we’ve got a new mp3 to share, the opening track from Shinju TNT’s “Silly Bears”!
