Interview Magazine premiered the new single, “One Half” from solo artist Julianna Barwick. The track, off her recently announced new album, Nepenthe, is the first audio we have heard from her follow-up album to the fantastic 2011 release The Magic Place. Nepenthe was recorded in Iceland with Alex Somers (Sigur Rós, Jónsi, Jónsi & Alex) and the album definitely plays well against the dark and lush landscapes of the recording environment. Compared to her last album, recorded in her Brooklyn bedroom studio, this album looks to have much wider and sweeping arrangements transporting the listener to Iceland with Barwick, giving them something truly inspiring to hear.
You can pre-order the new album at SCD, iTunes, and Amazon. If you are in Manhattan in August then stop by Judson Memorial Church on the 20th for her album release show. Check the rest of her tour dates here.
