Citay Tour with Vetiver and Fruit Bats

In September, Citay will hit the road with friends Vetiver and the Fruit Bats. Citay and Vetiver are old buddies from San Francisco and this tour marks a reunion with the Fruit Bats too who are also past tour mates with Citay. With this three deep bill of exceptional, veteran rockers this tour is not to be missed. Citay’s front man Ezra Feinberg moved from San Francisco to New York last fall and has reformed Citay with a brand new lineup that features Max McDonald, Evan Patrick O’Reilly, Noah Plotkin, Colby Cecca and Grant Schulte. In other Citay news the band is recording this summer with long-time collaborator Tim Green (The Fucking Champs, Nation of Ulysses) who has contributed to, and served as producer on Citay’s previous albums.

Citay’s Ezra Feinberg Recounts The Best of 2010

Best Citay show of the year: four-way toss up between a frigid night in Chicago at Schuba’s; a rainy but lovely night at the Band Room overlooking the stunning hills of the North York Moors, UK; kids going nuts in a San Luis Obispo wreck room; and a serious party in Stockholm opening for Black Mountain.

Best venue of this or any year: The Bottletree in Birmingham, Alabama

Best song with only one lyric: “Little Brown Haired Girls” by Frankie Rose & the Outs

Best song that everyone else also thinks is the best song: “Round and Round” by Ariel Pink

Best album that hasn’t come out yet but that I’ve been listening to a lot and that will be out in very early 2011: Acrylics “Lives and Treasure”

Best border crossing maybe ever: Citay and Vetiver, US to Canada, total wait time 1 minute.

Best Citay bill: Birds of Avalon – Citay – Mitch Easter (no joke) and best song of the night: Mitch Easter’s note-for-note cover of “Twenty-First Century Schizoid Man.”

Best Epic Jam: Citay, The Fruit Bats and Vetiver 30 minute “Hurry on Sundown” at a Winery in Sonoma, California.

Best vocal: Ruth Garbus of Happy Birthday at the end of the song “Girls FM.” Radical falsetto!

Best after-show party: Major dance jammer at Chris Swanson’s in Bloomington, Indiana featuring Citay, Bon Iver, label staff, college kids, and a weird dude who lingered and then passed out sitting up. Rug tearin’ til 6am. One of those nights…
