Aaron Frazer, the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, producer, and member of the acclaimed group Durand Jones & the Indications, today releases new single “Same Old Game,” taken from his forthcoming EP Corners, out on October 30.
With “Same Old Game,” Frazer continues to write from the perspective that has long defined his work: romance in all its hopeful, exhilarating and heartbreaking forms, this time capturing the feeling of a childhood crush over an upbeat groove.
Aaron Frazer says of the new song, “I love childhood imagery in soul music. The Intruders’ ‘Cowboys to Girls’ is probably the most famous, depicting that jump from juvenile preoccupation to grown-up feelings of love. I’ve always wanted to write something in that tradition, and ‘Same Old Game’ is my contribution to that niche. I think a lot of people can relate to that longstanding crush feeling like a game of tag back and forth. I hope people hear this, send this to that someone, and shoot their shot. Only one way to find out.”
Written and recorded between tours over the past year, the EP grew from Frazer’s desire to make music with the friends, peers and collaborators he’s come to admire throughout his career. Featuring contributions from Cold Diamond & Mink, Kelly Finnegan, Gabe Roth, Anthony Masino, Mayer Hawthorne, Tommy Brenneck and Blake Rhein, Frazer says the project was, “a joy to make with no pressure, no timing it around a grand tour, with no goal other than to make songs I love with people I love.”
Aaron Frazer will also release two 7” singles via Colemine: “Paint The Picture” b/w “Back Into The World” on November 13, followed by “Same Old Game” b/w “Let Your Love Grow” on December 4.
Aaron Frazer first gained recognition as the co-lead vocalist and drummer of Durand Jones & the Indications and has since released two solo albums – his 2021 debut Introducing… and 2024’s Into the Blue, which saw him expand into a broader, more exploratory sound. Now, with Corners, the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist returns with a collection of songs that embraces the joy of making music for its own sake.
