MUNA today announce Dancing On The Wall (Deluxe Edition), out November 13 via Dead Oceans. The deluxe edition pushes the album even further onto the dancefloor, with four new remixes from Avalon Emerson, Romy, Arlo Parks and Porches.
Out now is the remix of “Dancing On The Wall,” reimagined by producer and DJ Avalon Emerson. Emerson brings her distinctive electronic sensibility to the title track, transforming MUNA’s euphoric, emotionally charged original into a propulsive new take that opens the track up to the dancefloor while retaining the intimacy and emotional tension at its core.
Talking about the remix, MUNA said “We really revere Avalon as a DJ and we were so excited that she was down to do something for this song. We love when a remix almost unveils new melodies and meanings in a song, and she definitely was able to do that here.”
Emerson expands to say: “Sometimes the remix fairy visits at just the right time, bearing gifts. When I heard Dancing On The Wall, I thought it was really catchy, had a lot of color to paint with, and the pace and energy were in the realm where I could make something for the dance floor.”
The remix arrives following a packed run of summer festival appearances and MUNA’s biggest US headline tour to date, which included sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Toronto and more before wrapping at Red Rocks.
Earlier this fall, the band also celebrated Dancing On The Wall with a sold-out evening at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, performing songs from the album before being joined by Emmy Award-winning actor Hannah Einbinder for an intimate conversation about its making. Most recently, MUNA appeared at Chappell Roan’s The Super Graphic Spectacular event in Los Angeles, which raised $2 million for trans youth and LGBTQ+ organizations across the US.
Released in May via Dead Oceans, Dancing On The Wall sees MUNA operating at their most emotionally precise and sonically expansive. Produced by the band’s own Naomi McPherson, the thirteen-track record explores desire, intimacy, uncertainty and connection, balancing euphoric alternative dance-pop with sharp songwriting and fearless production.
The album has already taken MUNA around the world, with headline performances and festival appearances across North America, the UK and Europe. MUNA will next return to Europe and the UK, including two nights at London’s Eventim Apollo, with the second London show added due to overwhelming demand. The band have also just announced a Melbourne headline show alongside their Laneway Festival schedule, with tickets on sale November 6
