Over a year following the release of their acclaimed sophomore album Are We All Angels, Santa Cruz hardcore band Scowl are unveiling Are We All Angels (Remixes), out today via Dead Oceans.
Are We All Angels (Remixes) is a curated selection of three distinctly infectious and blistering remixes of “B.A.B.E.” and “Special” by Los Angeles’ electronic punk outfit Sextile, Matt Stephenson’s digital hardcore project Machine Girl and Brooklyn-based post-punk band Model/Actriz.
On the remixes, Scowl says, We’re so excited to announce the Are We All Angels remixes.
It’s an honor to work with artists whom we have spent tons of sleepless nights blasting through tour van speakers. During the writing process of AWAA we dreamt up what it would be like to have these songs remixed into something you might hear at the club and the reality has been such a pleasant surprise. It’s a treat to collaborate with artists that make music so uniquely engaging. We want to express our utmost gratitude to Machine Girl, Sextile, and Model/Actriz!
We hope you dance until your mind goes numb,
Scowl
Model/Actriz says, “Big love to Scowl for having us on this one. Wanted to make something that felt clubby and futuristic but still super aggressive, with Kat’s incredible vocal performance as the spearhead.”
