Khruangbin Shares Video For “Como Te Quiero” Via Apple Music

Posted on 06/28/2018

Khruangbin have kept up an extremely busy schedule since the release of their acclaimed new album, Con Todo El Mundo, out now on Dead Oceans/Night Time Stories. After an entirely sold-out North American tour this spring, with stops for both an NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert and Pitchfork Live session (the most viewed Pitchfork Live ever on Pitchfork’s Youtube channel), the globe-trotting trio headed overseas for performances in Taipei, Bangkok, Singapore, Mumbai, and more, in addition to numerous festivals, including Seoul Jazz Festival, All Points East, We Love Green, Beaches Brew, and Best Kept Secret.

Just last week, Mark Speer and Laura Lee cranked out an epic, 8-hour edition of their AirKhruang DJ series, spinning tunes inspired by their travels around the globe. Today, Khruangbin are thrilled to present their video for “Como Te Quiero,” the tranquil number which closes out Side A of their new album. (You can watch via Apple Music by clicking through the video still below.)

The video is about Laura Lee’s Mexican-American grandfather, Joseph Guillermo Ochoa, to whom ‘Con Todo El Mundo’ is dedicated. He’s the person who gave Laura Lee her vivid imagination, who taught her how playful the world can be,” says Sanam Petri, the video’s Creative Director. “In the last days of his life, he saw visions, as if he was in a different dimension. Laura Lee always wondered what the world looked like in those last days, what was happening behind his eyes. We made the video to take the viewer on that last journey with him, back through his mind one last time. One last great adventure of a grandfather and granddaughter. The animation style is taken from the covers of Mexican matchboxes which, as a dedicated smoker, we think Joseph himself would’ve appreciated.

Formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums, Khruangbin will support Leon Bridges on a massive tour of North America this fall. They’ve also announced a slew of U.S. headline dates to close out the year, including shows in LA, San Diego, Portland, Columbus, Brooklyn, Atlanta, and more. A full list of dates are below.
